Choral Arranging Online Courses
Course I: Pre-Arranging Music Theory Course

This is a four session course. Each session will run for 90 minutes. The course discusses Basic Music Theory skills needed to do simple choral arrangements. The course program includes the following:
Lesson 1: Intro to the Musical Elements in Choral Arranging, syntax of writing musical scores
Lesson 2: Melody writing and the dynamics of note intervals
Lesson 3: Harmonizing the melody by introducing chords and their progressions.
Lesson 4: Applying these elements in a musical score.
Project: Writing a melody and harmonize it by putting chords on the music notation software.
Register to reserve your slot in the course. Up to 10 registrants are accepted in this course.
Participants who attend all the sessions and submit their weekly assignments and final project shall be given a certificate of completion.

Course II: Basic Choral Arranging for 2-3 Part Writing

This is a six-session course. Each session runs for 90 minutes. The course discusses arrangement in 3 equal voices. The course program includes the following:
Lesson 1: Introduction to equal voices and their vocal limitations and ranges
Lesson 2: Harmonizing the melody through chords and chord progressions
Lesson 3: Developing the skill of arranging for 3 equal voices
Lesson 4: Arrangement by applying a counterpoint to the melody
Lesson 5: Developing the skill of employing counter-melody
Lesson 6: Applying these elements and creating the intro and development of the melody
Project: Arranging a complete 3-part equal voice melody

Course III: Arranging for SATB and Beyond

This is a six-session course. Each session runs for 90 minutes. The course discusses arrangement for 4-8 mixed voices. The course program includes the following:
Lesson 1: Introduction to mixed voices and their vocal limitations, characteristics, and ranges
Lesson 2: Harmonizing the melody through chords, inversions, substitutions, and progressions.
Lesson 3: Developing the skill in harmony in arranging SATB.
Lesson 4: Arranging the melody through voice leading and counterpoint in all voices
Lesson 5: Developing the skill in contrapuntal passages
Lesson 6: Applying these elements and creating the intro, development, and extro of an entire song.
Project: Writing a full arrangement of a song in 4 voices and more.

Participants who attend all the sessions and submit their weekly assignments and final project shall be given a certificate of completion.
